There are three key elements that are the building blocks of every learning routine – structures, help, and choice. Teachers can adjust one or more of these elements to increase student engage and independence during any learning task. Think of the elements as build blocks that you can use to build a structure or ingredients in a recipe. As an architect does with structures or a chef does with recipes, a teacher’s role is to constantly assess the learning situations in their classrooms and adjust the amounts of structure, help, and choice they provide. Adjusting the key elements enables teachers to ensure all learners have access to common tasks and that the learning experience is responsive to specific learner needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
