Completing a body biography requires students to gather information and make inferences about people. You can invite student to complete this task about themselves or about a person they are learning about.
This exercise can help teacher learn about students and help learners learn about themselves. Ask students to complete the body biography several times during the year and observe how they have grown and changed.
Affirm and make visible parts of their multiple and often intersecting identities. They also learn a tool to help them reflect on what they think they know about people.
Use body biographies to analyze what students think they know about people in the news, characters in books, and members of their community.
