Students independently monitor how and why their thinking has changed and plan next steps by completing the sentence prompt, “I used to think…now I think… so next I will…” This routine was originally developed at Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero.
Use this thinking routine to reflect on the ways that learning activities may have confirmed, changed, and/or challenged their thinking.
Use thinking routines that prompt student self-regulated learning, specifically, reflection and goal setting.
